The Newcastle Knights have called a press conference for 2pm today at which captain Kalyn Ponga will speak.
In a statement, the Knights said: "Kalyn will address media speculation regarding his ongoing contract negotiations."
Newcastle fans, many of whom are thoroughly sick of what has turned into a soap opera, will no doubt be hoping the press conference has been called to announce that Ponga is staying with the club.

Ponga has a free-agency clause in his deal and has been courted by new franchise the Dolphins.
The Knights have reportedly responded to that by offering a contract that would extend his tenure for five more seasons.
News Corp reported on the weekend that the Knights had "pulled" their offer, but Newcastle coach Adam O'Brien described that report as "ridiculous".
