Knife terror at Ayrshire shop as blade thug threatens staff before demanding cash

A blade thug threatened shop workers last night before making off with cash.

Detectives are now investigating the robbery at the Day-Today shop on Hurlford's Blair Avenue where staff were uninjured but left shaken by the shock incident.

The man entered the shop at around 9.40pm last night and threatened staff with a knife and demanded cash.

The assailant then made off with a three-figure sum of cash.

The suspect is described as wearing a distinctive black top with a camouflage design on the hood, black tracksuit trousers and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant Steven Grey says that the robber spent a period of time outside the shop and also spoke to someone while leaving.

DS Grey added: “From initial enquiries, the suspect is seen outside the shop for a period of time before the robbery. After he leaves he is seen speaking to someone outside.

“A number of cars also pass while he is standing outside and I would urge anyone with information or personal footage, or drivers with dash-cam footage that will assist our investigation to contact us.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the robbery and would urge them to call 101 with reference 3775 of 23 February. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
