Scans have confirmed GWS defender Pepa Randall has damaged multiple knee ligaments in an injury that will sideline her for the rest of the AFLW season.
Randall went down with a knee injury during the second quarter of the Giants' round-two loss to Brisbane on Sunday.
The 26-year-old has scans on Monday morning, when it was revealed she has ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament and strained the medial collateral ligament.
"It's obviously devastating news for Pepa," GWS coach Cam Beransconi said.
"But we're a team and a family here at the Giants and we'll be by her side, supporting her every step of the way."
Randall, who has 41 AFLW games to her name over six seasons, won't be lost entirely to the young Giants this year.
"Pepa will continue to play a huge role in this team moving forward," Beransconi said.
"She's a great leader both on and off the field and I can't speak highly enough of her and her leadership.
"We've got a young and emerging list of players so it's a great opportunity for some of them to step up and play their role for the team."
Hawthorn ruck Tamara Luke, St Kilda's Jayde Van Dyk and Gold Coast forward Jaimee Stanton also suffered knee injuries during Sunday's round-two matches.
