Klosterhaus reveals Christmas plans to overlook interactive light show

A new interactive light show is coming to Bristol city centre this Christmas. Klosterhaus will transform its Grade I-listed building into a Nutcracker-inspired wonderland that will overlook the stunning light display that passers-by can interact with.

The main restaurant will be adorned with beautiful festive garlands spiralling the staircase, twinkling lights and giant nutcrackers. Diners will have the choice of the stunning outdoor terrace, and visitors can expect to stay warm with roaring fire pits, heaters, and blankets all on hand to keep warm.

What festive occasion would be complete without mulled wine or a hot toddy, both of which will be available from the Terrace Bar. Guests who brave the outside can enjoy the immersive light-based installation, A Beacon in the Bleak Midwinter illuminating Quakers Friars Square with over 12,000 individual LEDs, which will respond to interactions with passers-by.

This installation has travelled the world and was displayed in Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand, before making its way to Manchester, attracting half a million visitors in three weeks. The lights will be on display from December 3 to 30.

The German-inspired restaurant has a specially-curated cocktail menu created in partnership with Botanist Gin to bring drinkers a true taste of Christmas. As well as the classic hot toddy, which includes Laddie Whiskey, there is also the ’22 Days of Christmas’ - Botanist gin, fig liqueur, sweet red wine, honey, lemon, and whip.

If that doesn’t float your boat, there's ‘The Wanderer’ - gin, Grey Goose Peach Vodka, rosemary, grapes, elderflower, and white and grape soda. This cocktail menu will also be available from November 29, when Klosterhaus' festivities launch.

There will be a festive menu available for all who dine at the restaurant on the Big Day, with a menu featuring turkey with all the trimmings. Day-to-day, the restaurant offers a German-inspired menu including schnitzels and currywurst.

For those still looking for a venue for your Christmas Party, Klosterhaus has three private dining rooms to suit celebrations of all sizes. The spaces range from the intimate Hanover Room, for up to 24 people seated, to the grand Cutlers Hall suitable for parties of up to 170 standing guests.

Klosterhaus is in The Friary Building, Quakers Friars, Broadmead, Bristol, BS1 3DF, open seven days a week
