The Golden State Warriors spent last season under a cloud. Draymond Green’s altercation with Jordan Poole during training camp followed the team throughout the year. Golden State struggled to generate momentum and fell out of the playoffs in the second round.
Fast forward to this season, and everything appears far more harmonious. The squad spent part of the summer working out in a players-only training camp, and the roster has seemed united throughout preseason and the early weeks of the new basketball calendar. However, if you ask Klay Thompson, he will tell you that every year is a good year.
“I think every year is great,” Thompson said. “We’re in the NBA, and we get to go and put shots up and play defense for a living. I don’t even pay too much mind to that (the chemistry last season.) Every time I put a Warriors uniform on, I’m gloating because it’s a dream come true. No matter how many years you play, the NBA is a place where dreams are met. I think this year is great chemistry-wise, but last year was good as well…I don’t think to much about chemistry, I think winning solves all.”
Thompson is in the final year of his current contract with the Warriors. He will become an unrestricted free agent. Recently, the veteran wing told reporters that he tries not to think about the future, and believes his contract will sort itself out. It’s clear that Thompson takes his time in the NBA day by day and is grateful for his opportunity to be in the league. That type of gratitude is what helps keep a team grounded.

The Warriors have enjoyed a solid start to the season, going 4-1 in their first five games. There is still a great deal of basketball to be played, but the togetherness on display within their roster will likely have fans dreaming of a deep postseason run in 2024.
