Golden State Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis is no longer referred to as “Baby T” in the locker room.
After his first career double-double in a 132–126 overtime win against the Boston Celtics earlier this week, teammate Klay Thompson dubbed Jackson-Davis as “Trayce Jr.”
“Klay announced it right when we got in the locker room,” Jackson-Davis told reporters on Tuesday. “I think I’m Trayce Jr. now.”
It was only after “Baby T” scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a career-high 29 minutes that Thompson would allow Jackson-Davis to shed his nickname.
“He’s a vertical spacer, a shot-blocking presence and a big, strong, physical big man who is incredibly athletic. Trayce Jr., very athletic,” Thompson said after the big win over Boston.
“That is his new nickname, correct, because I only know one Trayce in my life, and that’s Trayce Thompson. MLB player, father to Roman.”

Trayce Thompson, of course, is Klay Thompson’s younger brother, who is an outfielder in the New York Mets’ organization.
As for Jackson-Davis, it sounds like his impact on the much-needed win over the Celtics garnered the respect of his veteran teammates. With more strong play, Jackson-Davis could prove to be a vital rotational player throughout the rest of the season for the Warriors.
