The Golden State Warriors grabbed a loud Game 1 victory against the Dallas Mavericks in the 2022 Western Conference finals, securing a 112-87 win at home. The Dubs held a firm lead heading into halftime, but used a 34-point third quarter to put the Mavs to bed. It was a classic Warriors performance.
For Klay Thompson, though, the game started rather slowly. He was scoreless in the first half, and while most of the Warriors starters looked locked in, Big Smokey was 0-4 from the field.
In the third quarter, though, Klay came alive. He had 11 points in the frame, the most of any Warrior. His fellow Splash Brother, Steph Curry, turned in nine points of his own, and just like that it was blouses for the Mavericks.
After the game, Thompson was asked about his hot and cold Game 1, and why a poor shooting stretch isn’t enough for him to lose his cool. Listen in:
"I didn't have a field goal in the first half, but that will never discourage me. I will always hunt my shot." pic.twitter.com/BT5l6apkxb
