Kittie Returns With New Album 'Fire' After 15-Year Hiatus

Rolling Stones hold a private album release party concert in New York

Kittie, the Canadian metal band formed in 1996, recently made a comeback with the release of their new album 'Fire' after a hiatus in 2013. The band, consisting of co-founding sisters Morgan and Mercedes Lander, along with Tara McLeod and Ivy Jenkins, performed at the Festival d'été de Québec (FEQ) on July 6, 2024.

Having released their first album 'Spit' in 1999, Kittie's journey in the music industry coincided with the rise of online file sharing services like Napster, which significantly impacted the music landscape. Despite the challenges, Kittie continued to evolve, releasing six studio albums before their recent return to live performances.

'Fire,' the band's latest album, marks their first release in nearly 15 years and was recorded with renowned producer Nick Raskulinecz. Working at Sienna Studios in Nashville, where music legends like Neil Young and Jimmy Buffett once recorded, Kittie found a blend of classic and modern sound under Raskulinecz's guidance.

The band's experience in self and independent album releases prepared them for the changing music industry landscape. With a DIY spirit and a partnership with indie label Sumerian Records, Kittie navigated the complexities of modern music promotion and distribution.

Reflecting on their collaboration with Raskulinecz, the band praised his hands-on approach and passion for music. The studio sessions at Sienna Studios added a touch of music history to their album-making process, enhancing the creative experience for the band.

As Kittie embarks on a new chapter with 'Fire,' their dedication to their fans and music shines through. The band's ability to adapt to industry shifts and their unwavering passion for music have solidified their place in the metal scene, making their return a highly anticipated event for fans worldwide.
