Kirsten Dunst has revealed movie bosses once wanted to 'fix' her smile.
The Hollywood star has confessed that Spider-Man producers offered to 'fix her teeth' when just was just 19-year-old.
Kirsten - who played Mary Jane in the original trilogy - claims producers were keen for her to have a more traditional and aesthetically pleasing smile ahead of her starring role.
Speaking with the Independent, the actress recalled the time when one of the production team even went as far as driving her to a dentists as a teenager.
Kirsten, 39, reflected on "producers wanting to fix [her] teeth" after she landed the role in the superhero franchise opposite Tobey Maguire.
Revealing she didn't get out of the car when driven to the dentist, she said: "I was like, ‘Mmmmm, no, I like my teeth."
Adding: "Also, Sofia [Coppola] loved my teeth."
Director Sofia Coppola is a long-time friend and collaborator of the Bring It On Actress - having working together on projects such as Marie Antoinette and 1999 cult classic, The Virgin Suicides.
Later on in the interview, Kirsten is quizzed about whether she may have been tempted to alter her teeth had she not met the daughter of daughter of filmmakers Eleanor and Francis Ford Coppola.
"Who knows? I mean, I have a really good mom, too, but my mom is someone who might have been like, 'Yeah, why not have straight teeth?'," she admitted to the publication.
Despite not succumbing to pressure, the poster for the 2002 hit Spider-Man featured a beaming Mary Jane with magically straightened teeth.
Kirsten also touched upon the pay gap issue that plagues Hollywood's female stars.
With a box office gross of over $821.7 million worldwide, Spider-Man was the third highest-grossing film of 2002 and the highest-grossing superhero film and the sixth highest-grossing film overall at the time of its release.
The 2004 sequel achieved similar success, but Kirsten saw very little of the huge financial takings.
"The pay disparity between me and Spider-Man was very extreme," she admits.
"I didn’t even think about it. I was just like, 'Oh yeah, Tobey [Maguire] is playing Spider-Man.' But you know who was on the cover of the second Spider-Man poster?" she continues, going on to grin and point at her chest.
"Spider-Man and ME!"
Since Toby and Kirsten appearing the superhero franchise, there has been two reboots - with new actors - grace cinema screens.
Speaking to another publication earlier this week, Mary Jane actress Kirsten admitted she wouldn't be against making a return to the much-loved blockbusters.
"I wish they'd put me in another one. Like, old-girl Mary Jane – why not?" she told Entertainment Weekly.
"I would do [another superhero movie]. Everybody else is!"
