Kirkcudbright was packed on Sunday for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
St Cuthbert Street was closed to traffic to allow thousands of people to enjoy a huge Jubilee. There was music, a fancy dress competition, fairground rides and face painting.
Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities chairman, John Blaikie, said: “There were people who’d been to Edinburgh or had friends in Edinburgh and said there was nothing like this.
“That’s the capital, Kirkcudbright is small fry compared to that.
“We had probably the biggest street party in Dumfries and Galloway and probably one of the biggest in the country.
“All credit has to go to the young boys, Fraser Kemp and Kieran Chisholm, who organised it.
“People were dancing in the streets and it was a good atmosphere.
“Our programme is back to normal this year and the next big event is the country fair on July 16 and 17.”
