A Kirkcudbright garden will open to the public on Sunday afternoon in aid of a local charity.
The Limes, situated at the edge of town out the Dundrennan road, comprises a one-and-a-quarter acre plantsman’s garden.
The grounds feature a wide variety of plant habitat including woodland, dry sunny gravel beds, rock garden, crevice garden and mixed perennial and shrub borders.
Owners David and Carolyn McHale like to grow most of their plants from seed obtained through various international seed exchanges.
Visitors can expect to see a large number of unusual and exciting plants as well as a large productive vegetable garden. The garden is full of colour with an abundance of spring flowers and in late May and early June the meconopsis – blue-flowered members of the poppy family – should be at their best.
The garden is particularly floriferous at this time of year and well worth a visit.
Admission is £5 for adults, with children going free.
The garden is only partially wheelchair accessible.
The nominated charity is Friends Of Kirkcudbright Swimming Pool.
