Zak Herbstreit, the son of ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit and a tight end at Ohio State, has been hospitalized, per multiple reports. While the cause of Herbstreit’s hospitalization not totally clear, Herbstreit is in stable condition at Wexner Medical Center on Ohio State’s campus and is being monitored by medical staff, according to WSYX in Ohio.
On Twitter, Kirk Herbstreit posted a statement from Zak that adds some detail about what is was dealing with.
“I have had a bit of a setback these past couple of weeks. Not feeling right. Culminated with tests results this past Friday that forced me into the hospital,” he said. “We are doing a number of tests and conjuring a plan to ensure that I will be able to be back to feeling normal again.”
Additionally, Zak said he appreciates all the support coming his way.
“I appreciate the overwhelming support over the past couple of days,” he added. “I am feeling good and hope to be out of the hospital soon.”
My son Zak is in the hospital and wanted me to send this note out. I just wanted to add how much we appreciate so many people reaching out concerned about his well being. He has a long journey ahead of him.
