The conversation surrounding Kirk Cousins will always end with discussing his ceiling as a quarterback. How far can a team go with Kirk Cousins at the helm? According to Will Brinson of CBS Sports, when it comes to Kirk Cousins, the answer is simple: “You can win with him.”
Brinson recently tiered all 32 projected starting quarterbacks before training camp. Cousins ended up in tier four of Brinson’s ranking, which he titled: “You can win with them.” Cousins joined Jared Goff, Dak Prescott, Geno Smith, Ryan Tannehill, Derek Carr, and Jimmy Garoppolo.
“The best way to describe these guys? They can get you to the playoffs if everything about them breaks in their favor but you cannot envision a scenario where they take you on a deep playoff run or win you a Super Bowl without a really stout defense/run game combo or the stars simply aligning.”
The above quote is how Brinson describes this tier of quarterback play. He also described them in a very unique way.
“Cousins, Carr and Jimmy G are all alternate timeline versions of one another — Jimmy G is evil Kirk and Carr is the emo version you get somewhere in the middle of the two.”
Carr being the emo version of Cousins is a new one.
