Incentives are built into contracts regularly for not just individual success, but also team success. That’s exactly what Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has in his contract for when the Vikings win the Super Bowl.
If the Vikings take home the Lombardi Trophy, Cousins will take home an extra $1 million.
In his initial contract, the Vikings had incentives built in for Cousins to earn $2 million if they were to win the Super Bowl. Those incentives brought the maximum value of the contract up to what the New York Jets had offered him.
The Vikings winning the Super Bowl would be incredible for everyone involved, and Cousins would be a huge benefactor.
There’s plenty on the line this postseason for Vikings’ QB Kirk Cousins and Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott, but they have additional incentive as well. Cousins and Prescott each have $1 million incentives in their contracts if either is able to help his team secure a Super Bowl win. pic.twitter.com/s0doGKxoQ7
