We have the longest injury list we’ve ever had since being here.

Health and depth was a major reason why Georgia was able to win back-to-back national championships. The Bulldogs will rely on some key depth pieces over the next several weeks. Georgia hosts UAB in Week 4 before playing against three straight SEC opponents and then finally getting a bye week.

Here’s all of the injuries that Kirby Smart provided updates on:

Offensive tackle Austin Blaske

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia offensive tackle Austin Blaske is ready to return to action this week. Blaske has been recovering from an MCL injury. Smart updated Blaske’s status at a press conference on Sept. 18.

I think we’re going to get Blaske back today. I don’t know if he’s 100 percent, but he’s going to be able to practice.

Blaske’s return provides a big boost to Georgia’s offensive line depth.

Running back Roderick Robinson

Georgia true freshman Roderick Robinson is in line for a large role this year. Branson Robinson is out for the season with a knee injury, so Georgia needs production from several different running backs to replace him.

Roderick has a high ankle sprain. We’ll find out how he is today.

Georgia running back Daijun Edwards, who has been dealing with an MCL issue, missed the Dawgs’ first two games, but stepped up and ran for over 100 yards against South Carolina.

Offensive tackle Amarius Mims

Online Athens

2023 preseason All-SEC first-team offensive tackle Amarius Mims exited the South Carolina game with an ankle injury. Mims is going to have to have tightrope surgery on his ankle. Mims should be expected to miss several weeks, but not the whole season.

Kirby Smart detailed Mims’ status, but did not offer a timeline.

Mims’ ankle sprain was bad. He’s going to have to have tight rope surgery, so he’ll have surgery on that, similar to what Cash had done, similar to what Lawson Luckie had done. So we don’t how long that’ll, be, but he’ll be back.

Fans should expect Mims to be out for somewhere around four to six weeks. Mims probably won’t return until after the bye week.

Running back Kendall Mitlon

Online Athens

Senior running back Kendall Milton finished the South Carolina game with seven carries for 25 rushing yards. Milton suffered an MCL injury in Georgia’s 24-14 win.

Kendall had an MCL that he’s had before. He had one last year, but I don’t know how significant it is, and find out where he is today as well.

Safety Javon Bullard

Online Athens

Georgia safety Javon Bullard, a preseason All-SEC first-team pick, is nearing a return after suffering an ankle injury against Ball State.

Javon is day to day. Like I said after the game, I thought he might be close. Maybe closer this week. I think with the recovery he would be closer to being able to go, but I don’t know.

Bullard missed the South Carolina game.

Receiver Ladd McConkey

Online Athens

Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey is expected to miss the Dawgs’ Week 4 game against UAB. McConkey has a back injury and has not appeared in a game for Georgia this season.

McConkey is more than likely out this week. We’re resting him, trying to get him back, and we don’t have a timeline on him because it’s a very unique injury.

Tight end Pearce Spurlin

Northwest Florida Daily News

Georgia true freshman tight end Pearce Spurlin missed the game against South Carolina with an undisclosed injury. Spurlin and fellow tight end Lawson Luckie are both injured for the Bulldogs.

Don’t know when we’ll get Pearce back.
