Hollywood actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynold have announced that American rock band Kings of Leon are set to perform two huge outdoor shows in Wrexham this year. The band, known for their hit singles 'Sex on Fire' and 'Use Somebody' will appear on stage at the home of Wrexham AFC, the Racecourse Ground, in May.
The actors, who are the co-owners of the football team, announced that pre-sale tickets would be made available on St David's Day on Wednesday, with general sale tickets available on Friday, March 3.
But, organisers have also announced that there will be a special postcode pre-sale for anyone with a Wrexham postcode, which will be open on Thursday, March 2 at 9am. Postcodes include LL11, LL12, LL13, LL14, LL15 and LL20, giving local Wrexham residents first access on tickets for the dates.

The two shows are set to take place over the bank holiday weekend between Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28, 2023. In a video posted on Twitter, Rob and Ryan explained the importance of St David's Day in Wales. In the video, the Deadpool star said: "This Wednesday is St. David's Day."
He then added: "I know you may not know about it, but it's a huge deal in Wales." Co-owner, Rob McElhenney, then added: "St David is the patron saint of Wales, and this week in Wales, you can expect to see daffodils and leeks and hear a lot of singing."
Ryan Reynolds then went on to invite his fans to listen to a "traditional Welsh song", only for the song to be one of the band's most notable numbers - 'Use Somebody'. "I know what you're thinking, that's Kings of Leon," Rob said. "Not a traditional Welsh song".
The duo then went on to unveil the band's upcoming gigs in Wales. The Tennessee band have previously performed at the Swansea.com Stadium in Swansea in 2014. In 2011, the band, which consists of brothers Caleb, Jared and Nathan Followill, as well as their cousin Matthew Followill, found out that they had Welsh ancestors.
Their new dates follow last year's massive UK arena tour, which included two shows at The O2 in London and marked the band’s first UK performances since headlining Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2018. Kings of Leon released their eighth album 'When You See Yourself' in March 2021 and it became their sixth album in a row to debut at number one in the UK. They have sold over 20 million albums and nearly 40 million singles worldwide.
The announcement is already making waves. In response to the Hollywood actors' announcement on Twitter, some fans praised them for their effort to create a positive change for the community in Wrexham. One fan said: "You guys are absolutely amazing for the town & community. Diolch". Tickets will be made available from www.gigsandtours.com or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
