King, William and Kate 'business as usual' as Harry releases memoir amid media flurry

King Charles III and the Prince and Princess of Wales are getting on with 'business as usual' according to palace sources. As Charles' second son Harry releases his bombshell memoir amid a media flurry, senior royals will not be reacting, it's been reported.

Aides have been told it is “business as usual” despite the media interest and Charles, William and Kate will visit communities across the UK as planned on Thursday. The King will attend a community group close to his Scottish home, Balmoral, while the Prince and Princess of Wales are due at a community engagement in the north of England, reports MirrorOnline.

As the Duke of Sussex tonight (Tuesday) downed tequila shots with chat show host Stephen Colbert, aides said the royals were “getting on with the job”. Sources said the senior royals would not be reacting to the tell-all book, Spare, as Harry continues on a promotional TV tour in the US.

A royal source said: “The message is it’s very much business as usual. There’s lots to look forward to so the focus is on supporting communities and not being distracted, that’s best for everyone.”

Harry’s book contains explosive claims that he was attacked by his brother William, his revelation that he killed 25 Taliban members in Afghanistan and admissions of Class-A drug use. He also claims William and Kate were unwelcoming towards his wife Meghan when she joined the fold, and alleges his family stereotyped her for being “American actress, divorced, biracial”.

Regarding his father, Harry says his “Pa” was “never made” for single parenthood but had made some effort. He said in an ITV interview on Sunday that he will “always love” his father.

He told People magazine he “would like nothing more” than for his children, Archie, three, and 19-month-old Lilibet, to have relationships with the royals, saying “they do with some, which brings me great joy”.

Harry is close to his cousin Princess Eugenie, who has visited him. He described his late mother Diana as a “guardian angel” who is always with him.

And he also revealed that billionaire media mogul Tyler Perry offered him and Meghan his Los Angeles house to stay in amid the pandemic in 2020 because his own mother had “loved” Diana. Meanwhile, all 9,000 residents of Montecito, California, where the Duke and Duchess live, have been told to evacuate amid fears of mudslides.
