Footage has emerged showing a King’s Guard shouting at a tourist as she leans in for a picture with him.
In the video, the woman, dressed in a red hoodie and holding a rose, leaned towards the guardsman as a friend tries to take a picture of them outside Buckingham Palace.
However, she’s left stunned as the soldier turns to her and yells: “Do not touch the King’s Life Guard.”
The woman clutched her chest in terror as she leapt back, before a nervous smile flickered across her face.
A clip of the confrontation went viral on TikTok after being posted by an account called @kingsguardofficial.
Several commentators accused the soldier of overreacting.
One wrote simply: “I would cry.”
Another said: “He’s not a Disney attraction, he’s a soldier so don’t touch.”
Another added: “She didn’t even touch him.”
Meanwhile a third asked: “Why does he have to yell like that though? Relax guy.”
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence said: “We want to ensure all those who visit the Horse Guards have an enjoyable time.
“This area is particularly busy with tourists and on occasions the soldiers undertaking Guard duty need to shout loudly to alert members of the public if they get too close.
“This is for the safety of those on duty and the public.”
