The King is reportedly evicting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from their UK home. Charles started the process of taking Frogmore Cottage in Windsor from the couple after the publication of Harry's memoir Spare, a national newspaper claims.
Buckingham Palace issued an eviction notice to the couple in the wake of a series of sensational allegations made by the prince against the royal family, according to The Sun. Harry accused Queen Consort Camilla, the King's wife, of leaking stories about him to the press and described her as 'dangerous' during an interview promoting his book.
As part of a shake-up of royal households, Charles has also reportedly offered Frogmore Cottage to Prince Andrew in a move that would cast him out of the much larger Royal Lodge mansion. But the disgraced prince is said to be 'resisting' the offer to downsize.
Harry and Meghan have reportedly been making arrangements to have their belongings transported from Frogmore Cottage to their US base in Montecito, California. Harry is said to have asked for items including an ornate ottoman bench and a chaise longue to be shipped across the pond.
The King's relationship with his youngest son and daughter-in-law appears to be at an all-time low. And the chances of Harry being invited to the monarch's coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6 are looking increasingly slim.
Use of the five-bedroom Frogmore Cottage was handed to Harry and Meghan as a wedding gift from the late Queen in May 2018. The couple renovated the property to the tune of £2.4 million before moving in in April 2019.
They lived there for less than a year before announcing their intentions to leave their roles as full-time royals at the start of 2020 and departing for a new life first in Canada and then California. Harry went on to reimburse the taxpayer for the renovation costs in a deal which included leasing Frogmore Cottage for 'several years'.

Harry stayed there when he attended the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral in 2021. He shocked his family after revealing in his book Spare details of a private argument with his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, and Charles in the grounds of the cottage hours after the ceremony.
Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, are thought to have been issued with an eviction notice around a month ago in the wake of the book's release. They are not believed to have been offered an alternative UK home.
In another reported twist, Buckingham Palace has offered the cottage to Prince Andrew. But the 63-year-old, who has been stripped of his royal titles, is said to want to stay at nearby Royal Lodge - the 31-room mansion he shares with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
Charles has announced plans to slash Andrew's annual £249,000 grant as part of a major shake-up of royal funding. Having also shelled out millions in an out of court settlement with sex-abuse accuser Virginia Giuffre - allegations he has always vigorously denied - it looks unlikely he will be able to continue to afford the upkeep of the property. However, Andrew is yet to accept the offer.
