KING Charles will pay a visit to a Scottish food bank later this week.
The monarch will touch down in the wee county of Clackmannanshire on Thursday, January 16 to mark the first visit from the head of the Royal Family to the area in nearly 30 years.
The king will arrive at The Gate Foodbank on Ludgate in Alloa, to be greeted by kids representing every primary and secondary school in Clackmannanshire, alongside recipients of the King’s or Queen’s Award.
At The Gate, King Charles will meet with representatives of local charities and voluntary organisations from the area.
These include Forth Valley Welcome, Homestart Clackmannanshire, and Breathe Easy.
Before his departure, he will also hear about the work that The Gate do, which sees them help people affected by homelessness and food insecurity.
The foodbank has now grown to encompass around 80 to 90 volunteers, while also employing 11 permanent staff members.
They will have the opportunity to meet King Charles at their renovated church headquarters on Ludgate.
This week's visit will be the first time the head of the Royal Family has visited Clackmannanshire since 1997, for the Queen's golden wedding anniversary.
