King Charles and Camilla are set to throw a larger than normal Christmas Day celebration but it will be without Harry and Meghan, it is reported.
A wider circle of royal guests are said to be invited along to Sandringham for the first Christmas without the Queen.
After a difficult year it is reportedly intended as a sign of unity from the royals with many members of the family making the traditional walk to the church together on Christmas Day.
Notable absentees will be the Sussexes fresh from their new Netflix series where they have once again been critical of the Royal Family with explosive claims.
Prince William and Kate will be attending with their children as will Edward and Sophie and their kids.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will be there while Prince Andrew is also believed to have been given the go ahead to attend along with Sarah Ferguson.
Camilla has also reportedly been keen to bring along her family with her children Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes attending for the first time.
“Camilla is keen that her family are at the heart of Christmas, particularly as Charles won’t have his youngest son there," a Palace source told The Sun.
“It is an extremely important Christmas coming just months after they last all gathered for the Queen’s funeral.
“During last Christmas the family were desperately trying to sort out Prince Andrew and his sex abuse case and then there was the incident with the intruder carrying a crossbow at Windsor Castle.
“We saw the togetherness at the Princess of Wales’ carol concert this week and Christmas will be held in the same spirit.”
Buckingham Palace confirmed the King had this year decided to travel to Sandringham House, where Queen Elizabeth II hosted her family over the festive period throughout the decades.
It follows a two-year break, when, due to the Covid pandemic, the late Queen spent Christmas at Windsor Castle two years in a row – the first with the Duke of Edinburgh, separated from her wider family in lockdown.
The Sussexes' further three episodes from their Netflix series were released on Thursday where they revealed more about their lives as royals and why they quit.
It featured emotional reality TV-style confessionals, unseen photos and a behind-the-scenes look at the couple's private lives.
Last week in the first episodes , they talked about the royals' "unconscious bias", Meghan's emotionless first meeting with the Princess of Wales and claimed there was no protection from the media.
