King Charles to get special comedy satire in time for his Coronation

Some new TV for the King to avoid: a new episode of The Windsors, a comedy show that mocks the Royal family, is being made for his Coronation, with a full series to follow later in the year. It stars Harry Enfield as Charles and Haydn Gwynne as Camilla.

Prince Harry’s recent autobiography should provide plenty of material for the writers, who had already portrayed the Queen Consort as a troublemaker. Harry has accused Camilla of leaking to the press. “I’m beginning to worry if Prince Harry has been watching,” Gwynne said this weekend. “I thought my Camilla had nothing to do with the real Camilla”.

The original co-writer George Jeffrie sadly died in 2020. But his co-creator Bert Tyler-Moore “has managed to pick up the baton, and we’re doing it again” said Gwynne.

Speaking on Radio 4’s Saturday Live, she added: “They have commissioned another series, which we will be shooting later this year. But also, we’re going to be very soon doing a Coronation special.” The show, which never portrayed The Queen, previously ran for three series from 2016 to 2020.

The Coronation is on Saturday May 6, with a Bank Holiday that Monday.
