King Charles' strict Coronation rules as guests including Ant and Dec told to 'limit' conversation

Ant and Dec and the other famous faces who attended King Charles III's Coronation, were subject to a number of strict rules as they attended the historic event at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, including a rather bizarre ne about 'limiting' conversation.

Geordie stars Ant and Dec, who were given their OBEs from the new King, back when he was still Prince in 2017, were just two of a number of well known faces spotted taking their seat in the world renowned London venue for the Coronation, along with the likes of Katy Perry, Judi Dench and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

As they prepared to head into the Abbey, Ant and Dec admitted they thought them being invited to the Coronation was a wind up, while taking to Instagram later on Saturday afternoon, once the service had finished, they revealed to their followers they were "chuffed to bits" to have been there.

As attendees of the Coronation, the I'm A Celebrity presenters and all those around them had to follow three main rules.

Dress code

According to Vogue magazine, King Charles has meticulously detailed the dress code of his coronation to be more modern than the traditional solemn, robe-filled ceremony, meaning that guests were allowed to wear Morning Dress, Lounge Suit or National Dress, with women invited to wear formal day wear such as midi dresses or coat dresses.

Mobile phone ban

All guests were instructed to turn off their mobile phones before the Coronation service started, with no photos or videos allowed to be taken during the ceremony.

Limit on conversation

It has been widely reported that the guests at King Charles' Coronation were told they needed to keep their conversation a minimum as the music started to be played in the Abbey, ahead of the King and Queen Camilla's arrival to signal the start of proceedings.
