King Charles has reportedly removed some of the late Queen Elizabeth II's possessions from Buckingham Palace including her large collection of horse-related statues, paintings and trophies.
The new monarch is believed to have put his mother's belongings into storage as he attempts to refurnish the royal residences to his own personal taste.
The Queen was a keen equestrian but Charles does not share the same passion for horses and has chosen to move her Majesty's ornaments elsewhere, the Express reports.
In a photograph taken in February 2022 at Windsor, the late Queen can be seen with two horse statues placed on the mantelpiece above her fireplace.
One shows a horse and groom and the other depicts the then Princess Elizabeth as a 10-year-old girl on her first pony according to the Telegraph.
When Her Majesty met with Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2020 the same two ornaments were seen.
The Queen was known for her passion for her favourite four-legged animal, alongside corgis and she often received horse-based presents from foreign dignitaries and when she was on tour in other countries.
In other official images, the Queen was often seen with a gold horse statue on her desk.
Sources have confirmed that the equestrian art was heavily on display in both Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
One told the Telegraph: “As The King spends more time at Buckingham Palace and Windsor a small number of items of decorative arts are gradually being rearranged as you would expect.”
The King arrived in Edinburgh today for the first time since his historical Coronation last month.
The monarch has a series of royal engagements in Scotland over the next few days as he celebrates his 'second Coronation' in the Capital.
Charles will be presented with the Honours of Scotland which are Britain's oldest crown jewels during a special ceremony of thanksgiving at St Giles' Cathedral on Wednesday.
Each year, the monarch traditionally spends a week based at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh for Royal Week in Scotland.
