King Charles III has been hailed as he arrived at Buckingham Palace.
The nation is mourning after the death of Queen Elizabeth II yesterday. The Queen's eldest son, King Charles, automatically ascended to the throne after her death.
His Majesty was greeted by thousands of thrilled fans as he arrived at the Royal residence for the first time since becoming King. He walked through the regal gates alongside his wife, Camila, Queen consort of the United Kingdom.

Fans were delighted as the new King proceeded to shake hands with the crowd. One member of the crowd kissed his hands while another planted a kiss on his cheek.
Viewers following the BBC news broadcast on Twitter praised the new King for greeting people as he still grieves the death of The Queen.
Charlie said: "King Charles has shaken so many hands and spoke to many people. On a very sad day for him he’s made many peoples day/year/life with a single gesture. Fair play."
