King Charles pays subtle tribute to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

King Charles III has paid a subtle tribute to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry by way of keeping a portrait of the royal couple close to him at all times.

On Wednesday 12 October, the 73-year-old monarch met with Prince Minister, Liz Truss, to kickstart their weekly meetings on government matters - which will be held in private, just like Queen Elizabeth II used to do.

A video, which was posted by ITV 's royal producer, Lizzie Robinson, was shared on social media. The post on Twitter showed the UK's Prime Minister being ushered inside King Charles' office, as she curtsied before the royal before they shook hands.

Just like Queen Elizabeth II, the new monarch also holds private meetings with the Prime Minister (PA)

As Truss entered the room in Buckingham Palace, the camera then panned across to a collection of family photos displayed in the corner of the room.

Eagle-eyed social media users noticed that one of the photos is of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, taken from their wedding in May 2018, reports US Weekly.

The lovely photo, which was taken at Windsor Castle after the ceremony at St. George's Chapel, captures the pair standing in the middle, surrounded by their family and bridal party.

Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, is also featured in the picture.

Wearing a lime green suit, just like the late monarch's, Doria was the only member of the family from the Duchess of Sussex's side to attend the wedding.

Alexi Lubomirski, the professional photographer who took the photo, captured the whole family in the snap; including the late Prince Philip standing over Queen Elizabeth II, as she is seated beneath him wearing a lime green blazer and floral dress.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are to the left of Meghan, together with their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Meanwhile, King Charles III is seated Camilla, then Duchess of Cornwall, who stands to the right of Prince Harry.

And despite reports of family tensions, the photograph can reportedly be considered as a subtle nod to the fact that His Majesty still considers Meghan and Harry family.

It comes after Charles expressed his love for the couple in his speech as the new king, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8.

In his statement, he said: "I want to express my love to Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas."

On January 8 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced on Instagram their decision to "step back as 'senior' members" of the British royal family.

And following Megxit, the pair left to California, where they now live with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

They returned to the UK in September for the long reigning monarch's funeral. It is still unknown whether the royal pair will expected to be home next year for King Charles III's coronation, which is taking place on May 6, as it coincides with their son's fourth birthday.
