King Charles' Leeds visit on Tuesday: where he's visiting and what he's doing

King Charles III will conduct his first tour of Yorkshire as King tomorrow (Tuesday) and on Wednesday.

Accompanied by the Queen Consort Camilla, His Majesty will visit Leeds Central Library and Art Gallery and Leeds Building Society's head office tomorrow as part of his tour. He will also tour Morrisons headquarters in Bradford and Bradford City Hall before visiting York and Doncaster on Wednesday.

His Majesty meet dignitaries, community leaders and some of the city's biggest contributors. The King will be inspecting community art, learning about Leeds' Caribbean community and the impact of the slave trade.

King Charles will meet ‘Child Friendly Leeds’ ambassadors and Leeds Children’s Mayor as well as members of the local Caribbean community, including 96-year-old Alford Gardner, Leeds’ last surviving Jamaican Second World War RAF veteran.

The King will view a number of ‘The World Reimagined Globes’ that have been on display in Leeds since the end of September as part of a national project to explore the history and impact of the transatlantic slave trade. His Majesty will meet some of Leeds' young high achievers and representatives from the city's Caribbean community.

After meeting dignitaries and children in the Tiled Hall cafe, he will view the Rebellion to Romance exhibition which has been running since July as part of the Jamaica Society Leeds’ ‘Out of Many’ Festival.

LBS chief executive Richard Fearon will take King Charles on a tour of the head office on Sovereign Street. There, His Majesty will meet representatives of Leeds' financial sector and organisations tackling the cost of living crisis. That will be his last engagement on Tuesday.
