King Charles in 'touching' Tina Turner tribute outside Buckingham Palace goes viral

King Charles III paid tribute to the late singing icon Tina Turner as the Buckingham Palace guards played one of her best-loved hits.

The monarch, 74, celebrated his coronation earlier this month in a landmark service at Westminster Abbey and the self-confessed music lover has paid tribute to Tina.

Her death was announced last week, with the 83-year-old legend passing away in Switzerland.

Reports in the Mirror say that the King allowed the Band of the Welsh Guards to perform her 1989 hit 'The Best' during the changing of the guard last week.

The clip was widely circulated on social media, as onlookers seemed to be overjoyed to witness the moving moment in front of Buckingham Palace on Friday.

"Brought a tear to my eyes … lovely tribute to a legend," wrote one Twitter user, whilst another added: "Love the tribute - love the fact they were applauded at the end!"

A third penned: "A fantastic musical tribute here to the late, great Tina Turner. I was talking about the Royal family’s affection for Tina Turner earlier this week and here we have the @WelshGuardsBand playing her hit The Best at the Palace."

Charles first met Tina back in 1986 when she took to the Wembley stage for an event for the The Prince's Trust and played a string of her most-loved hits alongside other star-studded guests including Paul McCartney.
