It's been an emotional year for the royal family. Queen Elizabeth's passing and funeral in September was followed by Harry and Meghan's bombshell claims and Netflix docu-series. However, it is King Charles' response that has made headlines now.
One royal expert has hailed the monarch as "totally outplaying" the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes' move to air their grievances via the show. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's six-part Netflix show concluded on December 15, but not before laying claims of bullying, lies and 'screaming' at the palace's door.
Many speculated that after the show, and the prospect of Harry's book, which is due to be released in January 2023, would mean there would be 'no way back' into royal life for the couple. However, new reports paint a different picture.
The family feud, at least publicly, appears to be one sided, with claims reported by the Mirror that King Charles will be sending invitations to Harry and Meghan for his coronation on May 6 next year. A source was reported as telling the Telegraph that: “All members of the family will be welcome.”

Commenting on the prospect of invitations being sent to the LA-based couple, royal commentator Daniela Elser said that the move "goes a long way towards making the Royal Family look magnanimous and warm-hearted... willing to be the much bigger people and to look past that Netflix nonsense."
Elser, writing for News.au, continued: "The same report stated even after the final episodes aired, there was no desire to make any changes to his carefully considered message in the wake of the increasingly ferocious attacks. The Palace’s Sun Tzu-worthy strategy goes beyond the Sussexes’ inclusion in next year’s big day to them doing something else that has taken some by surprise. Absolutely nothing.
"The only line that has emerged from the Palace has been a firm 'no comment', a position from which they will reportedly not be budging."
Reports also indicate the King is set to “mention” the Sussexes in his first Christmas speech. It is understood the speech was recorded after the first round of episodes from the Netflix docuseries aired on December 8.
