King Charles and the royal family have just dropped a video that’s got everyone asking ‘what the actual fuck’?
So here’s the deal: The royal family’s official X account posted this 28-second video captioned “Coming soon” with the side-eye emoji. It kicks off with a band that can only be described as super-British-looking standing in front of Buckingham Palace. But instead of the usual stuffy royal tunes, they’re playing “Could You Be Loved” by Bob Marley. Just wait, it gets more random.
The music gets progressively louder as the camera pans through the palace, finally landing in a room with a desk sporting an “on air” sign. Then, in walks King Charles, taking a seat just as the sign lights up. The video ends with a black screen that just says “Coming Soon”. Cue internet meltdown.
Fans and internet users are obviously spiralling about what the actual fuck this means. Is King Charles in his podcast era? Why do we keep giving men microphones? Do you think Bob Marley is rolling in his grave now that a coloniser is using his music to promote his potential new podcast? SO MANY QUESTIONS.
The comments section is pure gold. One user hit the nail on the head with: “Oh no, he’s starting a podcast isn’t he?”
Another hopeful commenter asked, “You hosting a festival? If so me and my mates would like tickets with camping? How much?”
Someone else chimed in with, “Heard DJ CHARLES is Headlining!!!!🤩”
Looks like His Majesty’s got options if this whole “being King” gig doesn’t work out.

So what’s the go? Maybe he’s taking a page out of Obama‘s book and is releasing a curated playlist. I definitely see big C listening to brat on repeat.
Or maybe he got a family plan on that Spotify deal with Harry and Meghan. OR maybe this is another way to overshadow Meghan and her lifestyle show that just came out.
I would not be surprised if we saw Charles and his wife Camilla entering their Pinterest era and making a union jack fruit board a la Meghan’s rainbow fruit board:
There’s also a theory floating around (aka I’ve been telling anyone who would listen to me) that King Charles must be doing this because Trisha Paytas just announced that she’s pregnant with her third child. Okay I know that sounds bonkers, but stay with me on this.
If you have no clue what I’m talking about, let me enlighten you. Trisha Paytas’ births are very closely linked to the royal family’s deaths. When she announced her first pregnancy, Queen Liz shuffled off this mortal coil shortly after.
Then, when baby number two was on the way, King Charles got his cancer diagnosis. Now, with baby number three on the horizon, folks are wondering if Charles is trying to beat the cosmic clock. Could this be his last chance at becoming relevant??
Many comments under Trisha’s baby announcement post on TikTok read, “Has anybody checked on King Charles,” which is both hilarious and slightly concerning. No seriously, someone please check on him — nothing is ever quite right if someone starts a podcast (I too have a podcast).

UPDATE: Since publishing, we’ve discovered that King Charles has announced that he is launching his own Apple Music radio show to showcase his favourite music.
“Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories, comfort us in times of sadness and to take us to distant places,” his video starts.
He wants to share “songs that have brought [him] joy”.
The King says that this was an “interesting” and “innovative” way to celebrate this year’s Commonwealth Day.
I would say that this news absolutely makes him DJ adjacent, so we weren’t too far off!!
