King Charles could abdicate next year to make way for Prince William, astrologer says

King Charles could abdicate the throne as early as next year, according to a leading astrologer.

The Monarch could hand over power to his son Prince William by the early summer, Patrick Arundell predicts.

But his sense of duty will compete with his "inner turmoil" the stargazer adds.

King Charles, who values his privacy, has already faced the pressures of the crown in the few months since he acceded to the throne.

But he is winning the nation's heart in the months before the Coronation, with more than half of the country saying the Royals were good for Britain in a recent poll.

King Charles will officially be crowned King at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

However, astrological clues point to "mighty contra-energies" as he tries to reform the monarchy and hold the UK together.

His Majesty was praised for his energy, principles and generosity of spirity in Arundell's Windsor horoscope series for The Mail.

But results also suggest that His Majesty could have a short and "turbulent" reign with William stepping in to replace him sooner rather than later.

Charles must manage "deep commitments, shared resources and legacies, not least to do with the public purse or managing the estate of his late mother," the astrologer explains.

"It would be of absolutely no surprise if in the early Summer of 2024, Charles made way for his son William," he added.

The findings are based on astrological birth charts which show a potential "need to be free" as energies peak.

Uranus dominates the 10th public house of Charles' Chart as the planet of "surprises, rebellion, higher truths and disruption", Arundell explains.

The planet also faces the King's sun twice this year, on July 17 and October 8, and then again on May 1 next year.

He will then face Uranus in a year's time, "suggesting this may be a turbulent reign," the astrologer said.

"This is perhaps due in part to the push for independence by some countries, perhaps more in his desire to reform the Monarchy itself, or at a more personal level," he added.

"As these energies peak, a need to be free could become profound."

Charles, 74 will honour centuries of tradition during his Coronation next month.

But the royal event will also crown his drive to modernise the monarchy with a special Twitter emoji.

Plans reveal the Crown Jewels will play a starring role during the religious service.

In addition, the Coronation Procession will feature hundreds of members of the Armed Forces from the UK, Commonwealth and British Overseas Territories, as well as the Sovereign’s Bodyguard and Royal Watermen.

Treasures from the Crown Jewels on display will include the Sovereign’s Orb, the Golden Spurs, the Armills bracelets, five swords, two maces, and the Sovereign’s Ring.

Charles will be crowned with the 17th-century St Edward’s Crown, before switching to the the lighter Imperial State Crown at the end of the ceremony, as per custom.

Queen Consort Camilla, 75, will be crowned with the Queen Mary’s Crown and hold the Queen Consort’s Rod with Dove – despite controversy over the rod featuring ivory.

From Buckingham Palace, the royal couple will travel along The Mall, through Admiralty Arch, around Trafalgar Square, along Whitehall and through Parliament Square to arrive at Westminster Abbey.

When they reverse the route to return, they will break with tradition by only using the 260-year-old Gold State Coach.
