Bristol Cathedral is inviting the people of Bristol to attend a live screening of the coronation of King Charles on Saturday, May 6. The country is making its final preparations ahead of the bank holiday weekend, which includes a coronation concert on Sunday.
Details have been confirmed after the cathedral was selected as one of the national coronation live screening venues, joining Bristol & Bath Science Park in providing public spaces for people to watch the historic event. There is no charge to enter the screening but attendees must pre-register online via Yuup.
The Very Rev’d Mandy Ford, Dean of Bristol said: “We look forward to welcoming people to share in the live screening experience of the Coronation in Bristol Cathedral—which will feel like an extension of Westminster Abbey—on May 6. It is a wonderful opportunity to be together on this day of national importance as we join in this service both of great seriousness and great joy."

Bristol Cathedral will also be hosting a Special Evensong in celebration on Sunday, May 7 at 3.30pm. All are welcome at the service which will be attended by civic leaders from across Bristol.
The Very Revd Dr Mandy Ford, Dean of Bristol said: “We were delighted to work with our friends from St George’s Bristol and choirs across the city to bring together singers to perform the great coronation anthem, Zadok the Priest. I hope the singers had an extraordinary experience singing together in Bristol Cathedral and it is a real joy to know that the resulting film will convey our prayers and congratulations to His Majesty on his Coronation.”
Elsewhere in Bristol, the Coronation Ceremony is also being screened free of charge on a six-metre screen in the Bristol & Bath Science Park. There is an on-site bar as well as food stalls offering lots of different options. You can bring along your picnic blankets or hire a picnic bench and enjoy the festivities. Tickets are free to book online.
