King Charles and Prince Andrew's relationship is reportedly 'on the rocks' after hitting an all-time low following a furious row over a £30 million royal residency.
It comes as the latest headache for the new King on the run-up to his official Coronation next month. Royal drama continues to swirl around the family, with Prince Harry and Meghan still yet to confirm their attendance.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still to make their final decision over appearing at the historical royal ceremony where King Charles will officially be crowned as monarch, despite missing the final RSVP ten days ago.
And now King Charles has been left with another problem as his younger brother, disgraced Prince Andrew, has reportedly been kicking up a storm over the £30 million Royal Lodge home in Windsor after the King's efforts to reduce costs and slimline the monarchy resulted in a re-shuffle of the living conditions of some of the senior royals.
King Charles previously booted Harry and Meghan out of Frogmore cottage to make way for the ex-royal, but Andrew has reportedly refused to cooperate with the efforts to move him from his current royal residency at the lodge which he has lived in since 2003.
The decision has led to a string of spats between the brothers according to reports in Page Six, despite the fact that Charles has handed him the keys to Frogmore in a bid to get the move finalised.
A royal source told the outlet that Andrew was clinging onto the lodge as he believed it continued to reflect his status as a senior royal.
They said: “Andrew doesn’t want to leave because the property is seen as a symbol of senior royalty — an important property in the family’s portfolio.
“But William, who is the heir to the throne, has his eye on it.”
Andrew stepped away from his role in the royal family following the pay-out of £12million to Virginia Giuffre to dodge going to court over sex abuse claims, something which he has categorically denied.
The 63-year-old was held under fire over his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, having come to his defence claiming that his only fault in the issue was that he was "too honourable."
Prince William and his wife Kate along with their family moved to Adelaide Cottage, not far from Andrew, one year ago.
But the four-bed home is reportedly already not sufficient for the royals according to reports as William is in need of more office space as his responsibility with the monarchy grows.
But all the wrangling over spacious homes, as the country struggles through a cost of living crisis, has been said to have “infuriated” the king in the run-up to his coronation.
“Relations between the king and his brother have never been this bad. It has turned into a real battle which he never expected and it’s left him tired and infuriated.” A source told the outlet.
King Charles's coronation on May 6 still faces a host of issues as organisers face a “race against time” to finalise details of the King and Queen’s historic crowning at Westminster Abbey.
A catalogue of major issues has emerged at the heart of planning for the event, with insiders revealing that rehearsals ran over by an hour, wrecking Charles’s plans for a "slimmed down" service.
