King Charles and family enjoy charades at Christmas

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York revealed the royals enjoy charades

The royal family play charades at Christmas.

King Charles and Queen Camilla typically gather with their extended family at Sandringham over the festive period and although Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York – who was previously married to the monarch’s younger brother Prince Andrew and still lives with him – refused to divulge the details of their festive celebrations, she did offer one hint as to the celebrations she has enjoyed in the past.

Asked what a royal Christmas is like, the 65-year-old author – who is mother to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – recently told heat magazine: “Christmas is all about children for me, so the grandchildren are at the centre of things these days.

“I’ve been very lucky to be invited to spend the season with the royal family in recent years, but I wouldn’t dream of talking about that.”

Asked if she can at least reveal if there are family games, she replied: “We love charades!”

Sarah adores the festive season and loves designing personal gifts for her friends.

She said: “I get my decorations up right at the start of December.

“Christmas is one of my favourite times of year. I love designing baubles and often get some made as Christmas presents for friends and family.”

And the duchess knows she will always love the gifts she receives from her daughters and their families.

She said: “We spoil each other. The girls and their husbands always get me the most thoughtful gifts and I’ll always try to pick out something nice for them.”

After spending the last year being treated for both skin and breast cancer, the ‘Her Heart for a Compass’ author is hoping for a healthy 2025.

Asked what’s on her wish list, she said: “I’ve had a difficult year, health-wise, with two cancer diagnoses. So, all I want is health and happiness for me and my family.”
