Kindle drops by 50% to less than £35 in latest Prime Day deal

Modern readers are reaching more and more for e-readers so that they can make the most of books on the market without missing out on shelf space.

With e-books growing in popularity, and Kindle Unlimited subscriptions making it much more affordable to find your next favourite book, it's no surprise that Kindles are the thing to have.

Amazon have slashed down the price of their classic Kindle (2019) model to just £34.99 in the latest Prime Day deal.

The classic original model typically retails at £69.99, but for savvy shoppers you can now grab it for half the price making it the cheapest Kindle on the market by far.

Coming with a free 3 month subscription to Kindle Unlimited, which gives you access to over 1 million titles, thousands of audiobooks and magazine subscriptions, you can indulge yourself.

From the massively popular Harry Potter series to The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Colleen Hoover's Reminders of Him, you can read all the books your friends have enjoyed.

There's also a wide range of steamy books that are all the rage on Bookstagram for you to tuck into.

The classic Kindle has a glare-free 6" screen, making it easy to read when you're out and about or off on holiday.

The device also comes with weeks of battery life and 8 GB storage so you can look forward to it lasting a while with plenty of books when you're on the go without wi-fi or a plug.

You can also listen to Audible using Bluetooth with the device, making it a good starting option.

There are only 4 LEDs making up the front light and the resolution is just 167ppi which is much lower than the more recent models, but with a 1-year limited warranty it's a great way to suss out if e-books are for you.

But if you're already a fan of the popular devices and are looking to upgrade, then the Amazon Prime Day sale has big discounts on all the Kindles in the range.

The Kindle Oasis is the biggest and most expensive of the Kindle models and now it's available at a fraction of the price, dropping down to £159.99, a staggering 30% discount.

The screen is a whopping 7" and has 25 LEDs making up the front light. You have the choice of Graphite or Gold and can enjoy all of the same features as the Kindle Paperwhite - which itself is to be discounted by 35% to £84.99 for the promotion - with the addition of the auto-adjusting light sensors.

That means that you can enjoy weeks of battery life, listen to Audible and adjust the warmth of your screen.

Not only that but it's waterproof meaning you don't have to worry if you're reading poolside or as you take a relaxing bath.

While it doesn't have wireless charging, it does have auto-rotating page orientation and page turn buttons - this is exclusive to the Oasis model.

Meanwhile, the Kindle Kids has dropped from £99.99 to just £49.99, meaning you can bag savings when shopping for your little one.

The Kindle Kids is much like the classic Kindle model, with all of the same features but a 2-year worry-free warranty so you don't have to stress out if small hands drop it.

There are fun cases with birds and space stations being an option, or just pink or blue. This is a great way to easily identify the different devices if you have more than one little reader at home.

The Kindle reading model allows you to look up unfamiliar words which is great for when you're first learning to read. Not only that, but it comes with a 1 year subscription to Amazon Kids+ which gives you access to thousands of children's books. This includes the entire Harry Potter catalogue, classics like Oliver Twist and Grimms' Fairy Stories and the first books from a range of popular series so your little one can find out if they like the style before committing.

With Amazon Kids+ pricing changing last month, much to some parents' fury, the retailers has already launched a three-month subscription to the service for £3.99 as an early Amazon Prime Day deal.
