Former Minister and Congress leader Kimmane Ratnakar has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Araga Jnanendra for his controversial statements on the murder reported in Bengaluru.
Speaking to presspersons in Shivamogga on Thursday, Mr. Ratnakar said the Minister, who represented Tirthahalli in the Assembly, had tarnished the reputation of his constituency by making careless statements about the murder. Initially, the Minister had said the murder was committed due to a communal issue and later withdrew it stating that he was misled by some sources.
“It is unfortunate that people in power are disturbing harmony by giving controversial statements. The Governor and the Chief Minister should have dismissed him from the Cabinet by now”, he said.
The former Minister also said the government should book a case against the Minister for his statement. Tirthahalli unit of the Congress would stage a protest demanding his resignation on Friday, Mr. Kimmane added.
