Kim Tate’s never been one to play it straight, and Emmerdale fans reckon her latest move proves she’s still the queen of manipulation. The soap legend, played by Claire King, has been stirring drama in the Dales since 1989, and her recent storyline has fans absolutely hooked.
After losing her husband, Will Taylor, over Christmas, Kim’s world was already on shaky ground. But things took another wild turn when her estranged step-grandson Joe Tate suddenly returned to the village, reported Belfast Live.
Joe’s comeback wasn’t exactly a happy family reunion. Kim suspected he was hiding something – and she wasn’t wrong. Turns out, Joe was secretly battling chronic kidney disease and, with help from shady Dr Crowley, managed to steal a kidney from his uncle Caleb to save himself.
When the truth came out, Caleb was livid and swore he’d kill Joe. But Joe managed to shut that down fast, revealing he knew something about Caleb’s involvement in the disappearance of Anthony Fox. The two struck a tense truce, agreeing to keep each other’s secrets buried.
But that wasn’t the end of it. Cain, ever the peacekeeper these days, stepped in and told Caleb it was time to stop the drama before everything exploded. Cain then took matters into his own hands and went straight to Kim.
Knowing she had the power to calm things down, Kim arranged a sit-down with Caleb, Joe, and Ruby. Her peace offering? Giving Caleb the land around his depot, which he accepted. But behind the scenes, Kim wasn’t exactly thrilled to be giving up anything.
She pulled Joe aside after the meeting, demanded his loyalty, and made him promise not to deceive her again. Joe agreed, and Kim told him they’d build a powerful empire together.
But Emmerdale fans aren’t buying the act – and they’re convinced Kim’s plotting something big. Over on a Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: “Still don’t believe she will stand by Joe, she is playing him.” Another added, “Nothing’s free with Kim. She’ll swindle the money out of him, just wait.” A third said: “She’s going to blackmail him, maybe even push him into murder.”
Whether Kim’s really planning to take Joe down or genuinely sees him as an ally remains to be seen – but if history’s taught us anything, it’s never to turn your back on Kim Tate.
