Kim Tate's long-lost son returns to Emmerdale 20 years later as hunky vet

Emmerdale viewers are in for a treat as Kim Tate 's long-lost son turns up in the village played by hunky actor Alexander Lincoln.

Alexander will be making his TV debut as vet James Tate, who was last seen on screen as a toddler in 1999 being carried into a waiting helicopter by his evil mum.

She had attempted to kill husband Chris Tate and steal his money before running off with her son.

Claire King recently made an explosive comeback to the soap and has concocted a plan to bring her estranged son to the village, by buying into the veterinary practice and persuading them to offer James a job.

According to the Sun , the storyline is set to cause tension: "James has been desperate to stay away from his mother for years.

"He’s under no illusions about what she’s like or what she is capable of and just wants to live his life free from her influence," a source told the publication.

"Just like his aunt Zoe, James loves animals and he sees being a vet as his way of escaping his toxic family legacy.

“He’s horrified when he realises the lengths his mother has gone to to get him back into her life."

He isn't going to be happy about how Kim has bought her way into his life as he tries to focus on following in the footsteps of his aunt.

Kim has caused mayhem on the soap since her return as she tried to have her step-grandson Joe murdered and blackmailed Cain Dingle into sex.

Apparently viewers will get the chance to see a new side of the soap villain as she attempts to build a relationship with James.

Emmerdale bosses reportedly spent months trying to find the right actor to play James, with the source adding that Alexander "immediately impressed".

It's Alexander's first TV role and his character James is set to be a heartbreaker in the village but will be a decent guy despite sharing a surname with his evil mum.

Mirror Online have contacted representatives for Emmerdale for comment.
