Kim Loaiza Reaches Number 1 on Spotify Global Album List and... Wait, Is She Announcing Her Retirement?

MIAMI - Mexican artist Kim Loaiza, a trailblazer in the digital entertainment sphere, has recently achieved a remarkable feat: her debut album 'X Amor' soared to the top of Spotify's Global Album list a week after its release.

In a dramatic turn of events, Loaiza has also announced her decision to "retire" from her successful career, a move that has sent shockwaves across the music and digital content industries.

Before, Loaiza had admitted to her almost 50 million fans on YouTube that she had faked an infidelity scandal by her husband, the influencer Juan de Dios Pantoja. The couple even involved the children in the scam.

The retirement announcement has been met with mistrust.

Kim Loaiza, from the internet to the music world

Loaiza's journey from digital influencer to music sensation has been nothing short of spectacular. She currently has 70 million followers on TikTok only.

Echoing the steps of scene trailblazers like Lele Pons and Mario Bautista, she has successfully harnessed her massive online popularity to carve out a space in the music world.

Earlier this year, Loaiza signed a deal with Warner Music, marking her formal entry into the industry. Her album 'X Amor', released on December 14th, was not just a musical triumph but also a digital phenomenon. Loaiza was named the most-listened-to artist on TikTok in 2023 and also broke YouTube viewership records.

The big lie

Amid this meteoric rise, Loaiza was also embroiled in controversy. First came the staged infidelity scandal. The revelation of this as a publicity stunt was unexpected and, as Loaiza admits, unnecessary. "I regret getting involved in this," she said in her good-bye video. "I knew it would cast a shadow over my decision (to retire from her career), which I had made long ago."

In a tear-filled video, Loaiza emotionally addressed her fans, saying: "This is for my children; they need me more." Despite this heartfelt message, many are skeptical about her retirement, considering her recent album success and ongoing projects.

Then there's the criticisms for her musical style, drawing parallels with established artists like Karol G. In response, Loaiza has been upfront, admitting, "Karol G is a huge inspiration to me. It's an honor to be compared to her."

Loaiza and Pantoja have also been accused of conspiring to block fellow influencer Kenia OS's music career.

A weird decision

The skepticism about Kim Loaiza's retirement has been fueled further by her continued involvement in the music industry. She teased the release of a 'Deluxe' version of 'X Amor' and confirmed that her 'La despedida' tour and a new cosmetics line are still on track.

Adding to the intrigue is Loaiza's position at the top of Spotify's global list. This achievement, coupled with her announced retirement, has led to speculation that she may be stepping back from content creation to focus solely on her music career. "I have commitments going on," Loaiza hinted, suggesting a partial retreat from her digital influencer role.

The unconventional path reads like a telenovela in the music industry. Maybe can be an inspiration for the third season of "La reina del flow."
