Kim Kardashian could be set to use her family's annual celeb-filled Christmas Eve party to "deflect" from the ongoing Balenciaga controversy, according to a PR expert.
The reality TV star, 42, stated she was "shaken" by the fashion label's recent decision to run extremely distasteful BDSM adverts.
Kim came under fire for not speaking out sooner after Balenciaga released ads featuring children holding teddy bear bags accessorised with bondage gear.
They also included documents referencing a Supreme Court ruling that upheld a law that criminalises child sexual abuse images.
Now a celebrity and TV publicist tells The Mirror that after Kim's backlash, it is "appropriate timing for a nice deflection" with the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve bash.
Kim admitted she was "shaken by those disturbing images", but fans slammed the mum-of-four, who regularly works with the brand, for taking so long to speak out.
Emily Bergh, celebrity publicity expert at R Public Relations Firm tells The Mirror: "The Kardashian-Jenners are masters at deflection.
"Given all that is going on with Balenciaga right now, it seems appropriate timing for a nice deflection, the Christmas Eve party."
The Mirror has contacted Kim's representatives for a comment.
A source has now claimed that Kim had 'declined' an offer from Balenciaga for a new campaign amid the ongoing controversy.
Speaking previously in a public statement, she said: "As a mother of four, I have been shaken by those disturbing images.
"The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in our society - period."
She continued: "I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology.
"In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again."
Balenciaga released a statement via their Instagram Story last week, claiming they were "taking legal action" against a third-party team behind the ads.
They said: "We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our spring 23 campaign photoshoot."
"We strongly condemn abuse of children in any form. We stand for children’s safety and well-being," they added – the ads' photographer has also spoken out.
Snapper Gabriele Galimberti said: "I am not in a position to comment on Balenciaga’s choices, but I must stress that I was not entitled in whatsoever manner to neither chose the products, nor the models, nor the combination of the same.
"As a photographer, I was only and solely requested to lit the given scene, and take the shots according to my signature style."
