Kim Kardashian has been slammed by fans after she claimed her intense and costly beauty regime is "attainable" and denied that she promotes unrealistic beauty standards. The reality star has been criticised for forgetting she has 'wealth privilege' and fans slammed for her 'out of touch comments' following a recent interview where she spoke about the lengths she goes to retain a youthful appearance.
The 41-year-old confessed to having "little bit of Botox" between her brows earlier this month, but denied ever having fillers or other surgical procedures done to her face, writes The Mirror.
Kim went on to explain her beauty routine, saying: "I care. I really, genuinely care about looking good. I probably care more than 90 percent of the people on this planet. It’s not easy when you’re a mom and you’re exhausted at the end of the day or you’re in school, and I’m all of the above. I do my beauty treatments usually late at night. After everyone’s in bed, I’m doing laser treatments."
The mum-of-four was then asked by Allure magazine if she feels a sense of responsibility or guilt for setting what could be considered an unattainable beauty standard.
"If I’m doing it, it’s attainable," the billionaire reality TV star hit back with before going on to discuss the "many different beauty standards" she believes exist.
In the wake of Kim's comments, many disgruntled readers took to social media to disagree with the star and call her claims irresponsible.
"Yeah no it’s not @KimKardashian you have wealth privilege. Many people including myself don’t. Tone deaf and out of touch," one Twitter user told the aspiring lawyer online.
"She keeps proving more and more how out of touch she is with everyday women who really CAN’T attain the unrealistic beauty standards she flaunts," another mused. A third reminded the star of the global cost of living crisis by writing: "Kim should just stop doing interviews in this recession."
Another scathing quote-tweet of the original article reads: "Is this a joke? Do you not realize the wealth, the privilege you have?! Many of us mothers barely have time to shower before 9pm. Kim, once again you’ve made a mockery of yourself and how out of touch with society you truly are. Get out of here!!!"
Kim isn't the only person in her famous family to be criticised for peddling what can be considered an unrealistic beauty ideal. Last year, in the wake of trying to remove an unedited filter-free snap of herself from the internet, Khloe Kardashian released a lengthy and emotional statement about her own relationship with her image.
The mum-of-one admitted to feeling pressure to look good at all times, and recalled years of "constant ridicule and judgement" regarding her appearance and weight leading to her often being referred to as "the ugly one" by cruel trolls.
Many were sympathetic towards the Good American founder, but some pointed out that Khloe had perhaps contributed to the harsh beauty standards she has been judged by.
"i am empathetic to the pain and insecurities khloé kardashian admits she faces, but i think what is important to note is that the kardashian family has contributed if not created the beauty standard over the last 2 decades through photoshop, surgery, and exuberant wealth," one internet commentator wrote in response to Khloe's confession.
Another tweeted: "In school we once did a workout routine that was apparently the same as the kardashians. They have controlled the beauty standard for at least the past decade."
