Kim Kardashian mocked for ‘fake eating’ during vegan burger advert fail

Kim Kardashian has been mocked on social media after she was accused of ‘fake eating’ during a vegan burger advert.

The 41-year-old reality star, who has previously spoken about trying to follow a plant-based diet, was advocating for the Beyond Meat company when she came under fire.

In the advert, Kardashian spoke directly to the camera about how Beyond Meat’s products are ‘delicious’ as well as good for the planet.

“I believe so much in the mission of Beyond Meat that I’ve stepped in to help with my greatest asset – my taste,” a platinum blonde Kardashian explained.

During the clip, the mum of four then appeared to hold up several plant-based food items and even motioned to take a selfie with the food.

She added: “This plant-based meat is not only amazingly delicious, but it’s also better for you and better for the planet.”

Although it was meant to be a fun clip, viewers quickly noticed that Kardashian was never filmed actually eating any of the products. What’s more, she appeared to chew the food while holding up items that appeared untouched.

Naturally, it wasn’t long for critics to air their opinions on social media, with one viewer writing: “Fake eating… I see you.”

Another added: “You didn’t show her actually consuming the product… Did she actually eat it?”

“This is beyoooond meat, so good you don’t even have to eat it,” penned a third social media user.

A representative for Beyond Meat has been approached by the Evening Standard for comment. Kardashian is yet to respond to the criticism.

Although some viewers didn’t seem impressed with Kardashian’s appearance in the ad, others have defended the reality star and pointed out that her influence is a huge step for meat-free advocacy.

Another follower wrote in Kardashian’s defense: “please think critical and understand the impact this collaboration will have in terms of the massive influence. To have @kimkardashian encouraging her 300 million plus followers to eat plant-based is simply a win for animals and the environment no matter how you view it.”

Kardashian has previously spoken to her followers about ditching meat and opting for a “mostly” plant-based diet as part of her healthy routine. She also told followers about how she’d “converted” three of her family members to a plant orientated diet.
