Kim Kardashian cleared of damaging Marilyn Monroe dress according to Ripley's Museum

Kim Kardashian has been cleared of damaging Marilyn Monroe's iconic dress despite reports suggesting otherwise.

The reality TV star stunned the world when she rocked up to this year's Met Gala in the historic gown, but the company she loaned the garment from has insisted she did not cause any damage.

Earlier in the week a social media post laid claim that she had ruined the $4.8 million dress in her brief showing.

The post showed a before and after snap in which several jewels appeared to be missing and the zip looked stretched.

But Ripley's Museum has come out in defence of the SKIMS founder to say the gown was returned in exactly the same condition.

A rep for the company told TMZ: "A report written on the dress’s condition in early 2017 states, 'a number of the seams are pulled and worn. This is not surprising given how delicate the material is. There is puckering at the back by the hooks and eyes,' among other instances of damage."

They continued to say that since the company purchased the dress, it has been displayed in locations around the globe so it could have been damaged at any point.

Amanda Joiner, Ripley's VP of Publishing and Licensing, was with Kim and the gown throughout the day of the Met Gala and added: "From the bottom of the Met steps, where Kim got into the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in the same condition it started in."

After the speculation first arose, Kim came out fighting her corner so she'll be happy the company has her back.

A source close to the star immediately denied the allegations at the time, telling DailyMail.com that the images were 'not accurate' and the claims were 'completely false'.

The insider insisted that the famous frock already had signs of wear before Ripley's bought it as they noted that Kim only wore the gown for less than 15 minutes while walking the red carpet.

Kim famously admitted she had to drop 16 pounds in order to squeeze into the historic gown.

To do so, she went on a strict sugar and carbohydrate-free diet, while also running on the treadmill and wearing a sauna suit twice a day.

Before the celebration, the reality star told Vogue: “I’m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history.

"I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won’t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do.”
