The artist who doctored images of Kim Kardashian-West, Kendall Jenner and other high-profile women has apologised if any are offended by his work, after reports that Kardashian-West and Jenner had sent a warning to his lawyer.
The campaign ‘Break the Silence’ by artist aleXsandro Palombo shows altered images of the most photographed women in the world bruised and beaten to highlight violence against women.
However, according to TMZ, Kardashian-West and her sister, Jenner, are unhappy about the use of their photograph.
A source from the “Kardashian camp” reportedly told the celebrity website no one reached out to the sisters for permission to use their images and their legal team are now contacting the artist.
However, a spokesperson for aleXsandro told The Independent they “are not aware of any lawyer contact”.
TMZ reports Kardashian-West and Jenner “back the cause”, but also think it’s important that “people have the right to choose to be involved”.
When contacted by The Independent, the artist’s spokesperson said: “The artist is sorry if Kim and Kendall are offended by his work, it was not his purpose, at all.
“aleXsandro received many messages, emails, pictures of consent from the public and journalists all over the world. Even from the victims that have broken the silence.”
“Palombo's new series is not a campaign, not an advertisement, not for sale, it's the artist point of view of a social issue, his contribution to break the silence.
Other women included in the photographs are Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristen Stewart.
According to the artist, who previously had a similar project depicting Disney Princesses as domestic violence victims, the project goal is “to persuade all the victims of abuse to break the silence denouncing their situation and raise awareness on the fact that all women can be victims of abuse, that no one is immune, even if you live the fairytale life like celebrities”.
The Independent has contacted a representative for Kardashian-West and Jenner for comment.
