Kim Kardashian has opened up on her struggles of being a single parent in a candid interview. Speaking with author and life coach Jay Shetty, on his podcast, On Purpose With Jay Shetty, she admitted to sometimes 'crying herself to sleep' at night.
The 42-year-old American socialite shares four children - North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4 - with her ex-husband and rapper Kanye West, who she officially divorced from last year after seven years. "I'd say parenting is the thing that has taught me the most about myself," she said.
"It has been the most challenging thing. There are nights I cry myself to sleep, like, 'What just happened?' You know, with all the moods, all the personalities, and sometimes they're fighting."
Commenting on raising her children as a solo parent, she added: "There's no one there. Like, it's me to play good cop and bad cop. So, like, that is definitely a challenge," as she said that she was "working on being a little bit firmer.
"There's nothing that can prepare you. Anyone, any person that says, 'Oh, we're waiting to have 'X' amount of money in the bank' or 'Oh, we're waiting to have a home before we have kids'... you are never prepared."
She went on to repeat a quote she heard: "Everyone says the days are long and the years are short," as she said "it couldn't be more true". Although Kim described motherhood as "madness", she added that it's "the best chaos" - it is "the most challenging, rewarding job on his planet", she declared.
The mum-of-four said she is so "proud" of being a mother and that parents should feel the same way after "getting through the day". After her time on the podcast, Kim took to her Twitter account to share her "honest" conversation with fans.
"Jay Shetty and I had an open and honest conversation on his podcast On Purpose out on Monday." She said. "I’m so grateful to Jay for providing such a safe space to share a more personal side of my life.
"We discussed the challenges of parenthood, navigating the highs and lows of life, how I get through the tougher days, and so much more. I really loved this one, as so much of my life has been dedicated to finding out what my true purpose is. Tune in anywhere you listen to podcasts!"
