Kilwinning Rangers owe fans good finish to season says boss amid form slump

Chris Strain believes his Kilwinning Rangers players owe it to the club’s fans to see the season out in the right way.

The Buffs slipped to a fourth successive West of Scotland Premier Division defeat on Wednesday night as they went down 3-1 away to title contenders Auchinleck.

They’ve now gone six games without a win – one of the worst runs in boss Strain’s eight-year reign.

With the visit of Premier top dogs Pollok up tomorrow, Strain admits his side need to quickly snap out their current malaise.

Out of the title race and safe from relegation, there’s a danger Kilwinning’s season could fizzle out with barely a whimper.

But Strain insists improved performances between now and the end of the season are the least supporters deserve after sticking by the team in impressive numbers.

“There’s no doubt we are going through a tough time just now,” said Strain, speaking before the Talbot defeat.

“I can’t remember a spell in my time here when we’ve been on a winless run like this.

“There’s no lack of endeavour from the players but we look devoid of confidence.

“What we can’t do is start to feel sorry for themselves or start looking forward to next season.

“I won’t tolerate that while there are paying punters coming through the door to watch us every week.

“Our supporters have been very patient given recent results and we need to knuckle down and do everything we can to improve our form.”
