Kilmarnock v Ross County: Rory McKenzie hopes cup success can be bounce factor in crucial league run

Rory McKenzie hopes Kilmarnock's impending trip to Hampden can lead to a bounce factor in their league campaign.

The Ayrshire side defeated Dundee United on Tuesday night to book a spot in the last four on the Premier Sports Cup.

And now heading into a crucial clash at home to Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, midfielder McKenzie is feeling good about the squad.

He said: "I hope it can be a bounce factor, I think Saturday being a home game helps as our home form has been strong apart from Celtic.

"Right now we look a lot stronger at home, our away form is something we need to fix though.

"We have got a really strong squad, there's good boys getting left out, we have got a really big and strong squad.

"That is only going to help, especially in the lead up to the winter break there is loads of games.

"It's a key period, we don't want to be sitting where we are with a five week break.

"The table is so tight that if you string two or three wins together then you can shoot yourself right up the table, if you can do that a few times during the season then you'll be fine I think."

He added: "We made it tough for the fans last season and the season before, our home form wasn't great at times.

"I think after the new manager came in the home form picked up, the fans stuck with us and we appreciate that.

"I felt that the connection has been good all season at the club, going back to the Dundee United game, it's the best crowd I've seen I think.

"The fans have been on our side all season, right behind us, even when things weren't exactly going our way.

"There's a good relationship with the fans and that can only help us, I've been here during times of struggle and it's not nice playing in front of a crowd that's nervy and getting on your back, so we are enjoying this now."
