Stuart Taylor hopes Hamilton Accies can finally get the result against Kilmarnock that their play has deserved this season, as his side look to make it fifth time lucky against the Ayrshire outfit on Saturday.
Killie have proved to be a bogey team for Accies this term, first inflicting defeat in August when Taylor's appointment was announced and he came down from the director's box to oversee the last 20 minutes of a 2-0 loss.
Since being at the reins, a painful late collapse in November's 3-2 Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat has been sandwiched between Championship victories for Killie in October (2-1) and December (3-2).
Accies feel they were the better side in the clashes under Taylor and he hopes they can put that right when they travel to Rugby Park this weekend.
However, Killie are arguably stronger than before with new boss Derek McInnes at the helm and January signings Kyle Lafferty and Ash Taylor brought in to bolster their quest for the title. They are currently a point off of leaders Arbroath, with Accies seventh.
Taylor said: "The frustrating aspect is that our results against Kilmarnock this season haven't reflected our performances in the game.
"We have done really well in the three games we've played against them since I've been here and we did well down there last time, but it's a different manager this time.
"I know Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty and I know how hard they work, how organised their teams are, so it's going to be a different challenge.
"It's going to be a tough game, they've got new signings in and big names like Kyle Lafferty and Ash Taylor, who we will enjoy playing against.
"But we will look forward to being creative, look forward to getting on the ball and we'll try to win the game.
"If we can impose our style on the game, that will be really important. It will give us a foothold in the game. It will give us an opportunity to go and get something out of the game.
"We've done that a lot of times this season, but Kilmarnock will be a different type of game under their new manager."
Lafferty has netted six goals for Killie since returning to the club in January, but Taylor insists it's not just the former Rangers star they need to keep out.
He added: "Kyle has had a good career playing at top clubs and anyone with his experience is always going to be a danger.
"Strikers popping up and looking to get involved in the box is something we need to deal with.
"But on top of all of that, they've also got Oli Shaw who is a fantastic player and I've worked with him before [at Ross County].
"So he's a big threat as well. They've got Scott Robinson as well, so they've got three top strikers there and they've got goals in them.
"They've got a real depth of squad there, hence why they'll be right up there at the end of the season."
Accies are currently on a run of one win in seven games, leaving them seven points clear of the relegation play-offs and eight off the promotion play-offs in a tight league.
Taylor added: "The league table is irrelevant until you get to the end of the season. Once that last ball is kicked that's when it really does count, so we'll deal with each game as it is.
"In fairness to the lads, there's been loads of games this season where they have done very well and I just keep saying to them if they keep playing like that, they'll win games more often than not.
"We are positive and we'll look to win every game we go into."
