Kilmarnock v Arbroath: Home fans sell out bumper title clash as club thanks supporters

Kilmarnock's bumper title clash with Arbroath has sold out for home fans.

If the Ayrshire side bag a victory against the Lichties on Friday night they will win the Scottish Championship with a game to spare and return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

With the home end sold out and over 1500 away tickets sold, it's set to be played in front of one of the biggest ever crowds at Rugby Park since the capacity was reduced in 1994.

A statement from Killie reads: "We’ve stopped ticket sales after reaching capacity in our three home stands and we thank our fans for their fantastic support.

Visiting supporters will be situated in the Chadwick Stand and we’ve made arrangements with Arbroath to allow them to sell directly to their fans for the remainder of their allocation."

The Kilmarnock Standard understands that there is no scope to house Killie fans in the Chadwick Stand.

Killie boss Derek McInnes is right up for the clash which would seal Killie's first league title since 1965.

"In terms of the build-up I liken it to cup finals and semi-finals," he said.

"It's important you try and stay measured and consistent with how you work.

"We've got a way of working we think suits us and neither to be too up nor down with it. The players don't need to be reinforce the importance of the game, they'll be getting that and feeling that.

I just want them to have the belief in each other to go and deal with the game.

"The last home game here there was a lot on it. Dunfermline were the form team going into the game and the way we played that day was as good as we've been.

"We want to try more of the same of what we've been getting, which has been good enough to put us in this position.

"It's about getting through the line, Friday gives us that opportunity."
