Kilmarnock town centre has been locked down by police this evening.
It's been claimed that a serious incident has unfolded with the bus station, taxi rank and Burns Mall closed to the public.
Police are swarming round the town centre with half-a-dozen officers guarding points and others sweeping the area.
Cops have also been seen embroiled in heated discussions with youths this evening, ordering them to leave the area.
Cars cannot access James Shaw Lane, adjacent to the station, with a van blocking the route.
The entire car park and taxi rank at the bottom of the street has been taped off by police.
Stagecoach officials have been turning passengers away from the station and advising that the depot and the Burns Mall is closed and no buses will be operating from the terminal.
A set of stairs down to the bus station has also been taped off and police are standing guard at a bus stance.
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
